Previous and current media blogs:

To ensure that all elements of creating a media product are completed, for the past two years I have logged my journey through blogs. This enables me to show all the different elements and take the reader of a journey of how my media product is created.

So here is the first blog I made for my AS coursework where a 2 minute thriller opening was made:

And currently, this is the blog in progress for my A2 course. This is a 5 minute short as well as later on having to create a film poster and a review for our media product. Here is the link for this blog:

Animations:

In other subjects such as ICT, I have had the opportunity to make animation. For a chosen organisation, I had to create an interactive product with an animation within to attract an audience.
So here is my musical performance animation using claymation (stop motion):

This video was looped on repeat until the user stopped it or moved onto a new slide.

Another animation that I made was for an organisation that sell locks and hinges. This animation needed to show one of the locks being assembled and so here it is:

Music Videos:

Outside of lesson, I have had the opportunity to make charity videos such as for Children in Need concerts. Both the videos created were music compilations and designed for entertainment. As a group, some of us sat and edited the footage, the sound, ensured that all the people within the video knew what they were doing.

So here is the first video we created in 2013 for a Children in Need concert we put on for the school:

It was decided that our video was successful in entertaining our audience that we decided to create another video for the following year so here is the video created for 2014:

The group of us who put this together had much fun in planning, creating and editing the video which reflected in the final outcome and reaction from the audience.

Animatic

Before a film can be filmed, animatics are needed to get a rough idea of what they final product is going to look like if we follow the storyboard. This includes sound and music, the storyboard images, transitions etc.

So for AS this is The Black Widow animatic:

Now this is the more recent animatic for, The Illusion of Existence:

Storyboard:

I have also had the chance to make storyboards to plan out a film shots. These two storyboards are again from the coursework for AS and A2. These are the two more formal ones in which me and the other members of the teams have created for our story ideas.

Script Writing:

Script writing for me enables you to see the film begin to come together. Using Celtx, I have written two scripts over the past two years. Again one for AS and one for A2 which is the more recent one.

So here is the script written for The Black Widow:

Then here is the more recently written and published script for The Illusion of Existence:

In order to gain experience with the new DSLR cameras we were going to be filming with this year (2014/2015) a mock test was given to us. We had to produce a documentary about litter and so here is the rough script idea for the documentary we produced lasting just a few minutes:

Treatment Writing:

Within the media course, I have had the opportunity take on different roles within the media world. Treatment writing was  process in which I enjoyed as it allowed the descriptive and imaginative side of my media to come out.

Here is my AS Treatment for a Thriller film opening:

My more recent film treatment written is for the 5 minute short film I will be creating called the Illusion of existence for my A2 course:

Coursework Film:

For both AS and A2, the task of making a film with different criteria is set to give us a creative end project that could and was/will be distributed to an audience.

For AS the criteria was a 2 minute opening to a thriller film meaning it shouldn't give too much away but is gripping to the audience. With all the planning shooting and editing of footage and sound, this was the end product our team produced:

I will also for A2 be producing a film, however that is still in the planning stages but you can see the animatic and storyboard etc later on in the blog. This will be a 5 minute short with what looks like a happy ending...but is it really?

Welcome:

Hi, my name is Charlotte Billingham and am a student at a school in Staffordshire. Over my last few years at the school I have had the opportunity to create many different media products as well as being involved in the planning stages of media projects such as the treatment writing, storyboards etc.

So this blog is a portfolio of a few of the things I have done within the strand of media from essays to final film projects.

Well, theres nothing more left to say other than hope you enjoy my portfolio of work!
